Default "Package download failed"

Hi!

I have already been trying to find an answer here on the forum, but it was pointless. I subscribed yesterday to repo.sc and everything appeared to work fine, I got the list on my iPhone. The problem is, that although I can see the added programs, I always get the error "Package download failed!".

What should I do when I have successfully subscribed, chosen the apps I wanted on the list and delete all repos on my iPhone except my personal repo.sc?

Last important info: I dont get the error and I CAN download apps from any other source (apptap, ...)! So it must be something with repo.sc or with my account!

Thanks in advance for any responses!

I'm on 1.1.4

Can you please list a few apps that you are encountering problem with? 1.1.4 and 3.x should be fully supported, and the only problem would be either A) the package is no longer available on the original server, or B) something is wrong with our database... and to find out either or, we need to know which package it is having the problem.

Hi!

Thanks for the answer!

All package I wanted to try out couldnt be installed. Here are some of these: "Refresh faster", "iChinese", "MyBattery", "SIMPort", "SuperKit", "1.1.4 Internatioal Support", all dictionaries from "iTouchable.de" like "Deutsch-Englisch", .... in short: none worked!

When I put the source manually in installer, these can be downloaded.

Thanks for your time!

Refresh faster, while only remove sources from your installer, is pointing to a download on zoneimod.co.cc because installer requires a download (very dumb design >_>). The domain (if you try to visit it) is deleted already by the registar, so nothing on that source will work... I'll be removing that package and source from database shortly.

There are two iChinese packages; one for Chinese UI on older iPhones, and other one supposively for learning Chinese... Both of them are working on my end, and the XMLs are looking valid. Are you getting any specific error message(s)?

MyBattery and SuperKit are both from the same source as the one for learning Chinese, and they both work for me when I tested them. Can you please try them again, and let me know if the problem still presists?

SIMPort is on several repositories, mostly naughty people rebranding the packages like they're not suppose to... The one in Utilities section actually doesn't even have a file associated with it. I'd suggest you to try the one from iClarified section to see if it works any different.

I was unable to find any itouchable.de dictionaries... I found a few keyboard changes that were inspired by them, but nothing specifically from them in the dictionaries gorup :X

One problem with the metadata repository right now is we have no way of detecting and telling you when a package is offline by their original repository. As such, if their original servers are down for the count (IE: the first one), and Installer being dumb, you get only very cryptic error messages about package download failed w/o any specific details... Counter productive for this site as it may sound, the best thing to do is grab Cydia and ditch Installer all together >_>

=======
Follow up on the refresh faster package... After some digging, it would appear that everything on Jmiz9000's repository, which includes a spew of other stuff, are all inaccessible because they're all on that same domain. I'm going to remove the source from our tracking and remove the packages from our db so they don't cause any further confusions.

Default cool

Thanks for your precious advice!

I will do it, although it'd had been nice to have repo.sc!

Keep up the excellent work!

jaViER's repository and files both seem to point to a dead bluehost site { http://69.89.31.174/ | http://69.89.31.174/~kozmicst/ }. I've removed them from the database for now, so they should not show up in your Installers to create confusion anymore.
