Installer sources aren't meant for making money or begging for donation.

If you don't have the budget available, you should find the budget first, before starting. Majority of the time, you won't get enough donations to cover all the expenses (in fact, you'd be lucky if you get any donations at all), and even if you do, random things catches up to you and ding's you. I learned this first hand several years back, which set me back a small bit financially (this is when I was in-between jobs, too) as shown here:
